Pamela (Ela) Wiswakarma - Piano

Pamela (Ela) Wiswakarma’s professional degrees include Vordiplom-Dirigieren (Conducting) and Diplom-Rhythmik (Music and Movement Pedagogy) from the Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater in Hamburg, Germany; and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s College, MD.

While studying and working in Germany, Ela conducted the Harburger Maenner Chor, Harburger Frauen Chor, and Phoenix Orchestra in the Friedrich-Ebert Halle; the DESY Orchestra; The Hamburg Bach Society Orchestra; and she served as Guest Conductor for orchestral ensembles and choirs in both Europe and America. 

In 1998, Ela moved to Indonesia, where she lived for a decade. There she expanded her teaching and conducting experience at the Australian International School Kemang Kampus, Sekolah Ichthus South, Sekolah Mentari, Bambino Kindergarten, Sekolah Cita Buana, PPIA International Choir, and Yayasan Musik International.

Ela is now at Opus Community Music School, teaching private piano lessons since she returned to the U.S. in 2008. She has also taught Early Childhood Music at Opus, served as Financial & Administrative Director from 2012-17, and finally assumed the title of Executive Director in 2017.

With a studio of over forty students, Ela is an energetic, creative educator and musician. When she isn’t practicing or teaching, she’s doing yoga and spending time with her family.
