The big kahuna! Our semester recital! Sign up with your teacher today! Typically the 3pm recital is for our Elementary School Aged Students, and our 5pm recital is for our Middle to High School Aged Students. Exceptions to this rule can be made for siblings, and schedule conflicts, just let your teacher know. Dressy clothes are expected, no jeans, flip flops, or torn clothes. We are always grateful for Family Volunteers to help with the recital and reception! And remember, high school students can earn Service Hours with us!
This is a dry run of the recital itself and another chance to practice your piece with piano! If you are signed up for the 3pm recital, please attend the 5:30 dress rehearsal. If you are signed up for the 5pm recital, please attend the 7:30 Dress Rehearsal. You do not have to dress up for the “dress” rehearsal. ;)
These small group classes are an ideal opportunity for students to practice performing! Groups of 6-8 students will have an opportunity to play their piece with accompaniment, for other Faculty, students, and their families. Classes run every hour from 2-6pm, and each student will sign up for one ten minute slot (exceptions can be made for longer pieces, talk to your teacher). Slots are limited and determined at a first-come, first-serve basis, so sign up today! You can find the link to our signup page here:
On the day of this event, please expect to arrive 10-15 minutes early, have your instrument and music out and ready to go (jackets, bags, and cases can be left in the hallway). Have the original music with you, whether you’re playing by memory or not. (Our Faculty will use this if you do not!) Plan to stay with your child during the Masterclass for the full hour-long session. During the class listen attentively as others play; you can learn a lot from listening to what others do well and need help on! Be prepared to get feedback from other Opus faculty and students. It's a great way to learn!
OPUS has asked to provide music for the Sykesville Farmer's Market, and we would like to include students in this event! This is a fantastic morning, filled with local food vendors, farmers and artisans, and the outside performance is casual and fun. If you would like to perform a piece or two at this event, please let Bagus know. Our performance area is on a grassy area in the shade of a large tree. Bagus and Larry played there earlier this summer!
OPUS has been asked to provide a children's area at the Sykesville Harvest Festival. The goal is to have an area with small percussion instruments, mini violins, and other musical fun that kids of all ages can do, and we need your help! Volunteer service hours can be earned for helping out at this booth.
We are going to have an open house at the Eldersburg studio on Tuesday, August 23rd from 4:00-7:00 pm. Please join us! We will be having some mini performances, and some workshops for specific instruments. We will especially be hoping to include our students who participated in the Chamber Music Festival, and those who are interested in joining these groups this year!
